FPA of Illinois Structure
Because of the large geographical area for which the FPA of Illinois is responsible, it is sub-divided into regional councils. These councils each have their own officers and act autonomously within the framework of the Financial Planning Association of Illinois as published by the Chapter Board of Directors. The purpose of these Councils is to support the needs and objectives of the Chapter and thereby, help to fulfill the overall mission of the Financial Planning Association.
FPA of Illinois is comprised of the following six councils. Click on the individual council for a listing of officers and upcoming events.
Central Illinois Council
Chicago Loop Council
The Loop Council of the Illinois FPA consists of financial professionals who work on downtown Chicago. It offers great opportunities to earn C.E. credits during our lunch time meetings that we hold at convenient locations approximately eight times a year. Past meeting topics have included an annual ethics meeting and an economic update from economists at the Chicago Federal Reserve. Guest speakers have included Joe Hurley, founder of SavingforCollege.com and Mellody Hobson of Ariel Capital Management.
In addition to our meetings, we also offer networking opportunities with related professionals through joint meetings with the Chicago Planned Giving Council and the Chicago Estate Planning Council including an annual mixer at The Chicago Yacht Club.

The North Shore Council offers programs at a variety of times of day as well as alternating the length of meetings to accommodate its members’ schedules and continuing education requirements. Program topics address the latest trends and developments in financial planning. Meetings are regularly held at the Highland Park Country Club, as well as alternate locations occasionally. Roundtable and small group discussions are part of our meetings in addition to networking opportunities. These added features also give new members a chance to learn about the financial planning field. The 2007 meeting schedule is as follows:

Oak Brook Council
The Oak Brook Council of the IL FPA represents a large geographic area and does its best to accommodate them by having our meetings at convenient locations. Our four breakfast meetings in 2007 will be held at the Holiday Inn on Butterfield Road in Oak Brook. We also have an all day meeting in the fall. This meeting is being held at the Danada House in Wheaton, a most beautiful setting.
Our Council prides itself on offering practical information at its meetings that the people in our profession can immediately apply to their practice. In 2007, we offer members an incredible value; for $50 members can attend all for of our breakfast meetings. For $99, members can attend the four breakfast meetings and the wonderful all day event.
O'Hare Council
The O'Hare Council is now the Schaumburg Roundtable council. Mark Davids and Alan Locke are the co-chairmen of the meetings. The meetings are breakfast meetings and are usually held on the last Friday of the month except for July and August when there are no meetings.
We start with breakfast at 7:30AM and have informal discussions until 8:00AM when the formal meeting starts. The discussion topics focus on products or services that advisors can offer to their clients. We usually invite an expert to lead the discussion. The meetings are small in size (approximately 15 people) and are quite informal where discussion is encouraged. The topics are aimed at practical ways to help our clients and are helpful in growing our businesses. There is usually time for networking with peers that is collegial and helpful.
The meetings are held at The Embassy Suites in Schaumburg and the cost is $20.00 and gives 1 CE credit.
