Jeffrey Baer, CFP, CPA - President Elect
Jeffrey Baer CFP®, CPA/PFS is founder and President of Jeffrey Baer & Associates, Ltd., a public accounting firm which specializes in income tax preparation and financial planning for individuals and small businesses. His offices are located in Grayslake, Illinois and Northbrook, Illinois.
Jeffrey graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in economics and has been in his public accounting firm since 1989. Jeffrey became a CPA in 1992 and completed the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER program in 1996 earning the CFP® and PFS designations the same year. Jeffrey joined both the IAFP and ICFP in 1996.
Jeffrey participated in Money Magazine’s financial planning day and has been quoted in Chicago magazine and many other local publications. Jeffrey has spoken at various Illinois CPA Society programs, including the 2003 and 2006 Business and Technology Solutions Show. He has also taught insurance licensing courses for individuals becoming insurance producers.
Jeffrey is currently the President of the North Shore Council of the Financial Planning Association of Illinois (FPA) after serving as Treasurer. He has been on the board five years. Jeffrey is also treasurer of the Exchange Club of Grayslake and is a member of Rotary International, the AICPA , and the Illinois CPA society. He resides in Northbrook, IL with his wife Ellen, and his two sons, Justin and Ryan.

Bill is a shareholder of JMG Financial Group, Ltd., located in Oak Brook, IL. As a fee-only advisor at JMG, he primarily counsels active and retired senior corporate executives, professionals and other affluent individuals. He provides comprehensive financial advice, including income tax planning, cash flow planning, retirement planning, estate planning, investment planning, insurance planning, and tax compliance. Additionally, Bill manages his clients’ investments as an Investment Adviser Representative of JMG, which is a Registered Investment Adviser with assets under management in excess of $800 million.
Bill began his career in 1981, with a Chicago area financial services firm, where he developed expertise in the areas of life and disability insurance. While there, he founded and directed the firm’s comprehensive fee-based financial planning efforts. Bill has been with JMG since 1986. Jeffrey Simon, CPA, CFP – Director of Council Relations
Jeff has been in the financial planning industry since 1994 and is currently working for Smith Barney in the Chicago Wealth Planning Center. Jeff is responsible for helping Smith Barney’s Financial Consultants in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin incorporate the wealth management process into their practice. Prior to entering the financial planning industry, Jeff spent five years at Baxter International, first in Corporate Audit, then in the International Treasury Department.
Professionally, Jeff has received his CFP designation and holds numerous securities licenses as well. He is the Past President of the Financial Planning Association – North Shore Council. Through the years, Jeff has given numerous financial education seminars and workshops at several corporations in the Chicago land area and has taught a financial education class at Glenbrook South High School.
Jeff graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BBA in Accounting. After working for two years as a CPA in public accounting, he attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he received his MBA with a concentration in Finance and International Business.
Jeff resides in Northbrook with his wife and three sons, enjoys being involved in the community as a Northbrook Park District Parks Commissioner and as a coach in youth baseball and flag football. He represented the USA in Rugby at World Maccabiah Games in 1989, 1993 and in 1997, won a gold medal.

John W. Wheeler, Jr. has been in the financial planning industry since 1969. He is a Certified Financial Planner, Certified Senior Advisor, and a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow. As an adjunct faculty member of The College for Financial Planning, he has taught the CFP Certification Program since 1985 and also teaches at DePaul University. He has served for the past year as Director of Government Affairs for FPA-Illinois. He previously served as Director of Professional Standards for the Greater O’Hare Chapter of the ICFP.

Edgar Norton, Ph.D., CFA – Director of Career Development
Edgar A. Norton, Ph.D., CFA, is professor of finance and finance internship coordinator for the College of Business at Illinois State University. Professor Norton received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Professor Norton serves as a grader for Chartered Financial Analyst exams, helps to write the CFA examination questions, and has served as a curriculum consultant for the Chartered Financial Analyst equity specialization program. Professor Norton has authored or co-authored more than 30 papers that have been published in journals and conference proceedings and has presented research at international, national, and regional conferences. He served as president of the Midwest Finance Association during 2003-2004 and was on their board of directors for 7 years. He has written several college textbooks, including Investments (co-authored with Frank Reilly of the University of Notre Dame) and Finance: An Introduction to Institutions, Investments, and Management (co-authored with Ronald Melicher of University of Colorado-Boulder).

Frank E. Moore, Jr. CFP®, CPA, JD – Director of Government Relations
Frank Moore began his career serving clients in 1975 as a real estate broker in Colorado. In 1988, Frank moved to Birmingham, Michigan, where he joined a small financial planning firm. He was responsible for the development and delivery of a series of retirement planning programs designed specifically for employees of Fortune 500 companies.
Frank joined State Farm in 1998 as a Life/Health Liaison training and coaching agents to work with variable products and life insurance in a three-state region. In 2000, he moved to the Agency Department at State Farm’s corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois. During the past four years Frank’s primary focus has been on the development of the Personal Financial Planning program. He has primary responsibility for training and software related issues and continues his work to expand and enhance the future delivery capabilities of financial planning services for State Farm.
Frank has professional training and experience as a CPA and attorney in Colorado and has held various securities industry registrations: Series 6, 7, 63, and 27. He received his Certified Financial Planner certification in 2004.

Paul Nick, CLU, ChFC – Director of Professional Alliances & Community Services
Paul began his career with Connecticut General in 1976. He earned his CLU in 1979 and his ChFC in 1983. When Connecticut General became CIGNA in 1983, Paul launched his fee based planning practice as a part of CIGNA’s pilot program in Chicago.
Paul served on the board of the North Shore Satellite of the IAFP from 1989 in many different positions, ultimately serving as president from 1997-1999. Paul co-chaired the IAFP/ICFP Transition Committee after the formation of the FPA. He was the President of the FPA of Illinois in 2001 and Chairman of the Board in 2002.
Paul is a former Peace Corp Volunteer (Philippines). He received his undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus College (St. Peter, MN) and his Masters from Northwestern. Paul lives in Deerfield, and he and his wife Ann have two children, Ben & Ellie.

Steve began his financial planning career in 1984. He received a B.B.A degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from National University in San Diego, CA. Steve has earned the designations of Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and is a member of the Chicago Chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). In addition to closely held and family business owners, Steve has a great deal of experience working with Senior Level executives & professionals and has a specialty in employee stock and option issues. His stock options expertise has been featured in the Chicago Tribune and Crain’s Chicago Business. He has addressed the Greater Chicago area members of the Financial Planning Association multiple times on this issue.

After 22 years in the United Methodist itinerant ministry, Tom retired to settle into a community and work with people another way. After three years in the financial services industry he pursued and earned the CFP® certification, realizing this was the best way to “better his game” as a financial advisor and planner. He has been active in FPA since 2002 and finds the relationships to be an asset in professional growth and development. Tom became a CFP® practitioner in January, 2004. Tom has a grandson, two married and three bachelor children. He and his wife, Terri, live in Streamwood, IL. He can be found during the day working as a Financial Advisor for Harris Bank.

Eric Westberg - Director of Partnership
Eric has worked in banking/mortgage banking for 25+ years.
Eric has been a member of the FPA since 1988 and has served in many different capacities over that time period. He has built his business on a foundation that includes many long standing relationships with members of the FPA. He has found that they have a high level of integrity and are interested in partnering with a mortgage professional that treats their clients needs with that same level of integrity and quality customer service. He is also very involved with the local Realtor Association, The Realtor Association of the West/South Suburban Chicagoland (RWSSC). He has been an active member for 11 years and currently serves as Chairman of the Affiliate Committee. He was awarded the Affiliate of the Year for 2006 at the Association's Leadership Retreat this past August held in downtown Chicago. He has been awarded the Affiliate of the Year three other times. Eric is also active with the Hinsdale Rotary Club, where he currently serves as Sergeant at Arms.
He is a single father of three children and is very active in their lives. He enjoys camping, hiking and spending quality time with his children.

Terry currently serves on the board for the Oak Brook Council. Terry has been in the financial planning industry since 1990 and has been the President of Wall Street Financial Advisors, Inc since 2000. Prior to founding his firm Terry spent 10 years with Metlife Securities, Inc including five years working with American expatriates in Europe.
He resides in St. Charles, Illinois with his wife and four daughters and enjoys coaching for the Fox Valley Strikers soccer organization.

David McGrady is the director of the Financial Planning concentration for the Finance major in the Lumpkin School of Business at Eastern Illinois University. He teaches courses on financial and tax planning, estate and retirement planning, and business financial management. Mr. McGrady also serves as a consultant to Larsson, Woodyard and Henson on income taxation. Prior to joining the faculty at EIU in 1986, Mr. McGrady was a tax manager with Price Waterhouse. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington and B.A. from Franklin College of Indiana.
